What exactly is an Explanation Video?

Well, what is an explanation video? Let me explain….That’s right. It’s just like that.

Whether you are on a remote Scottish island like us or based in Outer Mongolia, don’t worry, we work with clients from all around the world, stress free. We use Skype and Google Docs to work efficiently on all of our projects, both of which are free online services.

How does it all work? We start by having a conversation with you, our lovely customer. You tell us what your product or service is and we brain storm with you on how we can make your video come across exactly as you want it. Everybody has their own ideas, so what we do is listen to those ideas and successfully incorporate them into your explanation video.

Once we’ve absorbed and understood all the relevant information, we set about writing the first draft of our script. Unlike some companies, this doesn’t take us a week, it takes us a day. We’re firm believers in making this process as quick and as pain free as possible, without compromising on quality, but you can see that for yourself when watching one of our many samples. Our videos are the best, most effective explanation videos that you can get on the internet today and for nowhere near the cost of our competitors.

After we’ve revised the scripts with you, we then conjure up the illustrations which will compliment the words. This again, takes us one day. So, that’s two days so far.

Next up, we illustrate. All of our illustrations are hand crafted (unless you go for the Cuillin Craft style digital video where the illustrations are created digitally – the choice is yours. For the basic explanation video, we use our own crafted illustrations that suit all topics. If you’d like fully customised illustrations with certain color schemes, or a certain look or feel, then we would happily create you an advanced explanation video. We offer these two video options to suit any business budget.

The next step is to shoot and edit your video. This can take up to three days depending on the complexity of the shoot and style of video. The basic videos are shot with no digital effects so only take one day to shoot and edit. The advanced video is much more complex. We need to shoot all the different layers (illustrations), digitally cut them out and then digitally animate them.

In terms of the advanced video, once the images have been cut out it takes us two full days to edit it all into a 2 minute video, so in total the video only takes between 3 and 5 days to complete. Due to time differences, we usually allow 10 working days to complete the videos. This gives us the time to make changes at any of the stages to ensure you end up with the best video possible.
